Those of you here for the off-road updates, I have one. Last week I went and collected samples of my dirt options and brought them home for testing — didn't really find what I was looking for but selected the best available. This morning I called for 66 cubic yards, and it should be here by the end of the day. I expect to move dirt daily until gone, then repeat this order. So we are under way again!
Our make-up race for Lone Star is in the books! The Round 4 make-up race at Thompson runs in two weeks, August 15. Sadly, this will also be the last race at Thompson's, as Chris and Michelle have decided to sell the property. I'd love to get together a good traveling crew — if you're coming, looking for a pit space or have one, please post up. What classes are you planning to run?
Podiums for the Lone Star Dirt Oval Series at N-Control. Thank you to all that came — great to see old friends and meet new ones. Lots of phenomenal racing. Thank you to the track crew, cooks, RD team and all volunteers. 133 Entries · 61 drivers · 14,317 Laps.
Lots of posts lately claim allowing a different radio ruins RTR classes. Here's the case for allowing decent radios: A radio is support equipment, not part of the car — we don't require the trickle charger or the batteries that come in the box either. When a new driver quits, it's almost never because they "can't compete" — it's because they can't control their car, and the fixes (turn down the throttle, reduce steering sensitivity) can't be done well with the stock RTR radio. A better radio makes racing a better experience for a novice driver. That's why every RTR class at my track allows changing the radio.
On-road entries have dropped off and we want to bring them back up. Starting this month, ON-ROAD RACING will be held the 2nd and 4th Sundays of every month — track prepped by 9–9:30am, racing at 11am. We'd like to revitalize classes that have died off — FWD, F1, LMH and even Euro Truck. 3 cars make a class. Jeff Whiting is spearheading getting the 1/8 nitro guys out once a month. Traxxas Rally still races Saturday night. Recap: On-Road 2nd & 4th Sundays · 1/8 nitro & electric once a month · Practice every 1st & 3rd Sunday · Traxxas Rally Saturday nights.
